There was an SCCA driver school and an SCCA national race on the 1.1 mile north end course at Meadowdale in the spring of 1969. The July, 1969 issue of the Midwestern Council newsletter reported that Chicago region had cancelled the balance of their 1969 schedule at the track, and that three MC dates appeared to be in jeopardy. The MC dates at Meadowdale were subsequently cancelled as well.
NHRA issued a sanction for drag races on the main straight in 1969, and some drags were held, but we do not yet have many photos, programs or media reports for them. Those would be welcome.
Late in 1969, the track was reorganized as "Illinois International Raceway" with an ambitious plan for oval, drag and road racing in 1970. Unfortunately, that did not get off the ground.
